Ella A. before and after 3D body scans at Kraken
6 months · semi-private training

She wasn't short on motivation. Nobody had shown her how.

145 → 128 lbs · 18 inches lost · Steps steady at 8,000+

If this is you: You're not a gym person, and you're not a "needs a pep talk" person either. You want the numbers, the plan, and someone to tell you what to do. You've just never had anyone show you how to train or how to set up your food.

Where Ella started

Ella is a straight-to-business person. Relaxed, easy to be around, and clear on what she wanted: lose some weight, tone up, and get to a healthier body composition. The health part mattered as much as the mirror did.

She had no real training background and had never tracked her food. She didn't know how to structure meals or what a proper fat loss phase looks like. Her steps were all over the place: 10,000 one day, 1,000 to 3,000 the next, with no baseline in between.

What she did have was the right mindset for it. When she saw her first 3D body scan, it didn't discourage her. It fired her up. In her words: "This is a clear starting point. We have metrics to work with."

She started in semi-private: one session a month with Freddy, who writes her program, and small-group sessions through the week, first with Julian and later with Justine.

What Freddy saw

The assessment was almost boring, in a good way. No injuries. She moved well and picked up new exercises quickly. Freddy's take: "She could have fooled me. She moved really well and she took direction super well."

So the limiter wasn't her body or her attitude, and it wasn't willpower. It was guidance. Nobody had ever shown her how to train properly or how to set up her nutrition. Once she had a coach and a system, Freddy's bet was that she would simply execute. He was right.

The first thing they changed

Tracking. Calories and macros, from the first week.

Week one was rough: food logged on maybe two to four days, and the entries were barely there. Freddy didn't overhaul anything. He sent a quick message before her check-in and walked her through how simple tracking can actually be. For most people, tracking feels like a huge task at first. A short conversation took that away.

Week two, she was locked in. Every day.

They weren't even cutting yet. The first couple of months were just about tracking consistently and finding her maintenance. The weight started coming down anyway. Tracking alone changed what she was eating enough to move the scale. The formal fat loss phase didn't start until late December.

Once food was steady, Freddy turned to steps. One thing at a time.

The hard part

Late November into December, she stopped tracking altogether for a stretch.

Freddy's approach was direct without being harsh. "Why did you not track? What stopped you from tracking? Was it just too busy of a week?" Then he pulled up her data and showed her the pattern: the weight coming down in the weeks she tracked, and what happened in the weeks she didn't.

That was the eye-opener. The next week was good again. The holidays brought some inconsistency, which is normal, and Freddy treated it that way. No drama, no speeches. Knowing someone was looking at her numbers each week was enough to keep her honest.

When it clicked

Two moments.

The first was the tracking week. Barely logging in week one, every day in week two, and watching the scale respond before she'd cut a single calorie on purpose. Cause and effect, in her own data. For a numbers person, that's the whole argument.

The second came from the group. Freddy's programs normally take clients the full hour. A few weeks in, Julian came to him: Ella was finishing before everyone else and needed more to do. Freddy went back and added exercises. She went from no training background to outpacing the room.

Where Ella is now

  • Finishing before everyone else in class, on a program Freddy had to make harder to keep up with her
  • Steps went from wild swings (1,000 one day, 10,000 the next) to a steady 8,000+, often over 10,000
  • Loves the semi-private group. The community is part of why it worked
  • 145 → 128 lbs (17 lbs)
  • Body fat 33.8% → 30.7%
  • 18 inches lost across her measurements, 13 of them from her torso
  • Next: she's happy with where she is and already asking "what's next?"

Freddy: "Super easy going. Day one, she's able to toss a little dig at me and I'm like, okay, all right, this is how it's going to be. Just really good vibes."

If you're like Ella

If you're motivated but nobody has ever shown you how to train or how to set up your food, you don't need a harder program. You need a plan and someone checking the numbers with you. That's what semi-private is: a coach writes your program, you train in a small group, and someone looks at your data every week. You don't need one-on-one three times a week to get there. Try it free for a week and see.
