FLabs to abs

Steven, or how some call him “the lifting electrician,” started with Kraken Training 70lbs overweight, with low confidence and self esteem. He knew he needed to lose weight but fought a failing battle multiple times with other personal trainers. It wasn’t until he met with Kraken Training that everything turned around for him.


At first Steven was very hesitant, and uncertain about squatting and deadlifting. He was worried that he would hurt his back and wouldn’t be able to work. But after assuring him that he will never lift more than he can’t handle, he obliged and began lifting… heavy… very heavy. Steven fell in love with powerlifting.


He enjoyed watching his lifts go up and best of all, his physique was also improving. He went from losing 20lbs, to 40lbs.. and then made it to a 70lb transformation. Many people could barely recognize him.

THE TRAINING

Because of Steven’s laborious job as an electrician, he had quite a bit of muscle mass to start. Which made it easy for Steven to start lifting heavy. He also had pretty good mobility throughout his body, making it even easier to start deadlifting and squatting.


Kraken Training put Steven on a powerlifting program and with the magic of progressive overload he began to gain strength quickly. His most recent personal record was a 425lb deadlift.


Steven was having difficulty with his bench press. Often times getting pain in his serratus anterior, but with a whole lot of stretching and activation work, it got better and better until he was able to bench 205lbs for the first time.

Because Steven was reluctant to do measurements, Kraken Training mostly took pictures of Steven’s progress as well as bodyweight tracking through the My Fitness Pal app.
