Give yourself more time
I was in a fitting room in a clothing store the other day.
It was one of those fitting rooms with multiple mirrors hitting you from all angles.
As I was getting dressed, I caught a glimpse of myself from an angle that I don’t usually see.
I was able to see a full side profile of my entire body with my head forward.
Usually to see a profile view of yourself you’d have to turn your head, which doesn’t give you an accurate picture of how your posture looks.
But this time, I didn’t have to turn my head.
Standing there, half-naked in the fitting room I was shocked to see my posture.
It has improved so much.
I couldn’t believe it.
I thought I was still the same old hunchbacked Josko, but instead, I saw some drastic changes.
It brought a smile to my face.
And it got me thinking…
I’ve been working on my posture for YEARS now.
I’ve taken mobility courses and watched countless videos on movement and proper posture alignment.
I even got a standing desk!
I thought that it hadn’t changed much, but my god was I wrong.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I was genuinely shocked at my progress.
Just keep in mind that progress is SLOW.
If these progressions came quickly, everyone would have a six-pack.
But the universe likes to test us.
The universe asks, “how badly do you want this?”
Not with words but rather with tests.
For example, if you’re trying to lose weight, the universe will test you by giving you the urge to have one more slice of pizza.
Or the compulsion to skip your next workout.
It’ll say things like, “you’ve done so well… one more slice wouldn’t hurt.”
It’s your job to have the discipline to say NO. And continue on your path to success.
For me, it was doing constant mobility work, every day.
Of course, there were days where I didn’t want to do the mobility work, and there were some days that I failed and didn’t do it.
But I didn’t let it bother me, and I continued on the path to success.
You will have temptations and failures.
But if you continue your path, you WILL have SUCCESS.
