When Frazee started with Kraken Training she was a very shy and self conscious girl. Frazee didn’t even want to wear bathing suit bottoms for her progress picture. Now Frazee is confident and proud of her body, so confident that she wore underwear in her after pictures.
When Frazee came to us she had many mobility restrictions. Her right knee would cave in, and her right foot would collapse. This was a huge issue because it shifted her hips all the way to the right. A shift like this is a huge risk for injury, so naturally Kraken Trianing had to address this. After months of mobility work, Frazee was able to squat effectively and as soon as she could started prepping for a powerlifting competition.
Because of the mobility issues that Frazee was experiencing while squatting, Kraken Training had to incorporate exercises that would help her gain stability and strength in order to make sure that her form was not be jeopardized.
Kraken Training turned to tempo squats and paused squats in order to help her work on staying tight and stable at the bottom positions. They also incorporated a lot of core and glute strengthening exercises. She claimed that she could never “feel” her glutes, which indicates a glute activation issue.
Frazee also had an extreme anterior pelvic tilt. This is another reason why she was having trouble feeling her glutes and core during most exercises. When people suffer from an anterior pelvic tilt, they often lack glute and core strength.
Frazee is officially 3 weeks out from her first powerlifting competition. Needless to say, her mobility issues have been fixed and she’s extremely motivated to compete.
She went on to squat 225lbs, deadlift 235lbs and bench press 105lbs. She lost 15lbs, putting her at 114lbs bodyweight, which means that she squatted 2x her bodyweight!
