Alissa was a manager at a retail store when she came to Kraken Training at the age of 23. She was 150lbs (30lbs+ overweight) and struggling with mobility and strength. She was struggling with self confidence and had a bad relationship with food.
Now, a little over two years later, Alissa has completed two powerlifting competitions where she placed 2nd and competed in a bikini competition where she placed 1st in two classes.
To be able to achieve 1st place in the bikini competition, Alissa had to cut down to almost 110lbs bodyweight. Check out her before and after pictures below.
Alissa was struggling with many mobility issues that restricted her from performing squats effectively. Her program had to be designed to fix these issues before she can lift anything heavy. After months of corrective work she was finally able to squat without pain or risk of injury.
She was very interested in competing in a powerlifting competition and Kraken Training took that into account when building her program. They focused on the 3 big lifts (squat, bench press and deadlift) and began progressively overloading in those lifts. After about 9 months of practising form and gaining strength she was finally ready to start prep for her first powerlifting competition.
In June 2018, she competed in her first powerlifting competition and placed 2nd. And after a taste of victory she wanted to do it again. And in December 2018, she placed 2nd in a very competitive and stacked competition.
In September 2018, she decided that she wanted to become a personal trainer and asked us if we would take her on as a trainer, the rest is history.
In November 2018, she began prepping for her first bikini competition and in March 2019, she managed to snag two 1st place trophies out of 40+ women on stage.
